An impressive 19th-century English Bible in a dark full-leather binding with raised spine bands, gilt spine lettering, gilt page edges and metal clasp fittings. The title page describes Bagster’s extensive system of references to parallel and illustrative passages and notes that the English text was designed to interleave page-for-page with editions in Greek, Latin, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Binding: Full leather with raised bands and metal clasps/fittings
Features: Gilt page edges; decorative leather binding; period ownership inscriptions, including dates 1887 and 1902.
Condition: Antique condition with substantial external wear consistent with age. Leather is rubbed and worn at the spine, corners and edges, with losses and scuffing visible. Boards show surface marks and wear. The page block has age-toned/gilt edges. Metal clasp fittings are present, with wear and patination. Endpapers show spotting, marks and age wear.
