The Every-Day Book by William Hone, offered here as a two-volume set. Hone's celebrated antiquarian miscellany gathers material on popular amusements, sports, ceremonies, manners, customs, folklore, natural history, chronology, literature and the events of the calendar year, with hundreds of engravings throughout.
Volume I: London, published for William Hone by Hunt and Clarke, 1826. First-edition issue of Volume I.
Volume II: London, William Tegg and Co., 1878. Later edition, with 436 engravings.

Condition: Both volumes show substantial age-related wear to the blue cloth bindings, including rubbing, fading, worn spine ends and corners, and scattered marks. Volume I has scattered foxing and age-toning internally. Volume II also shows foxing and age-toning. One volume has an old small paper price/ownership label adhered to the spine. Despite the wear, the pair presents attractively as a substantial Victorian set.
Note: This is a mixed-edition set: Volume I is dated 1826 and Volume II is dated 1878.
