Rob Hamill and Phil Stubbs were the winners of the 1998 Transatlantic Double Handed Rowing Challenge — the world's first trans-Atlantic rowing race. 30 boats and 60 rowers lined up in Tenerife. Hamill had no money, no rowing partner, no knowledge of boat building, and had never rowed at sea. In 41 days and nights at 2.8 knots across treacherous seas, he and Stubbs won. This is the electrifying story of how they triumphed over the elements and became New Zealand heroes. Illustrated with b/w photographs throughout.
